Adding Technorati tags to your blog
Internet, Link Development October 11th, 2007
Adding Technorati tags to your blog can increase traffic to your blog. Technorati is a search engine dedicated exclusively to blogs. Adding Technorati tags to your blog acts as a source of backlinks and can increase pagerank.
This is how you add tags to your blog:
- Choose 4 or 5 keywords related to your blog post. Suppose you have written a post about web hosting, select keywords like "webhosting, hosting, server, website" and so on.
- At the end of the blog post, paste these and label them as "Technorati Tags" or "Tags". Select each of these tags and click on the URL button and link to the appropriate tag page on Technorati. For example link "webhosting" to http://www.technorati.com/tag/webhosting.
- Publish the post and ping Technorati. Your blogging software will do this automatically for you. If not use the Technorati ping service directly. You can also use services like www.pingoat.com.
When you ping, Technorati comes to know that your blog has been updated. Technorati will then crawl your blog post and post it under the different tags that you have used. Visitors who visit Technorati will be able to visit your blog from there.
I am getting a consistent number of visitors from Technorati, you can too.
Tip 1: There are many other sites that are similar to Technorati. You can use them as well and get more traffic.
Tip 2: If you use a desktop blog client, you can not only make tagging simple, you can also make the actual process of writing blog posts much more simpler and enjoyable.
