Google is penalizing blogs

Google October 26th, 2007

Google is penalizing blogs suspected of selling links. Prominent blogs like ProBlogger have seen a decrease in pagerank. Earlier ProBlogger used to be PR-7, but it is PR-4. The strange thing is that blogs that are not selling any links have also been penalized.

This bring into my mind certain questions about Google and its policies:

  • Is Google the Internet Police ?
  • Who are they to decide what webmasters should be doing ?
  • Why should we use “no follow” whenever I link to somebody ?

Google doesn’t get to decide what we should be doing. Google became popular because we made it popular. They shouldn’t forget this fact.

May be it is time to turn to other search engines like Yahoo or Live. I don’t know for sure, but they do seem to work sometimes.
