Setting up multiple websites
Domain Names, Internet October 19th, 2007
Setting up multiple websites can be very advantageous. The following are some of the advantages:
- More websites means more traffic which means more income for you.
- You can sell advertisements to an increased number of advertisers. If you have websites in multiple niches, you can sell ads to related websites.
- You can get a good number of backlinks just by interlinking your websites.
- If one website goes down, the other website stays up and running, so you won’t lose money due to downtime.
- You can use a variety of technologies like blogware, content management systems, etc to rub each website and so this will diversify your expertise.
These are some of the benefits of running multiple websites.
Here are some tips for setting up multiple websites:
- Choose multiple registrars to register your domain names. Though, managing the domains may be a bit difficult and time consuming, it will be beneficial in the long run.
- You may consider buying a dedicated server. It will cost you more. However, I would recommend going for cheap shared hosting accounts. Not only will this be cheaper, but it will also mean higher up times. If your server goes down, all of your sites will go down. However, the chances that 4 shared accounts will go down together are very low.
- Don’t over burden your hosting accounts. Do not host too many sites at the same account. If your sites get more amounts of traffic, create at most 10 accounts and not more. You run the risk of getting suspended for excessive resource usage.
- Stick with good hosting companies. Reputed hosting companies will not suspend your account. They will give you a chance to fix the issues before they take any action.
- Last but not the least, Research! Research! Research! Well.
